Sorry for the delay, I've been travelling.

If you could post or send along the output of ogrinfo, I can take a look at what's happening with the script.

A better way to convert would be direct support for GeoRSS in ogr -- though ogr is pretty tricky.

Also http://www.brightisolutions.com/ is commercial software that converts Shapefile to GeoRSS.

I tried to convert a shapefile to RSS using the perl script provided at

http://worldkit.org/trac/wiki/ShapefileToGeoRSS

However, it only produces the header of the rss file:
<rss><channel>

Here is the command I executed:
./ogr2rss.txt < myshapefile.txt

I only have rudimentary knowledge of Perl. Can anyone help me? Maybe
there is even a better way to convert .shp to RSS.
